Why does your child need Children's Dentistry?
Our mission and passion for children is the prevention of dental disease without trauma. Many of our adult patients were traumatized as children, which left long-lasting psychological effects. So the first and most important thing we do for children is to build our relationships with them. Starting at age one (and sometimes right after birth), we bring them in to start the relationship-building process. We do well-baby exams on children under age 3. Though it is not common to find decay in a 1-year-old, it does happen. Catching things when they are little is so much easier and less traumatic for a child than waiting for things to get more serious and involved. We are comfortable treating children at any age. For our littles who do have decay, we try to address it as conservatively as possible. We use various methods to control anxiety with our littles, but some children are simply not mature enough to be able to cooperate with needed work while they are awake, and that is OK! We have solutions for that too! Some of our littles have extensive needs or anxiety that require sedation and using the services of a pediatric anesthesiologist.
What does Children's Dentistry involve?
At Holistic Dental Associates, we provide a range of important procedures that are geared to improving and maintaining the health of your child's smile. Your child will establish themselves in our office with an exam and cleaning. From there, we can create a personalized treatment plan specific to them if additional work is needed. Some of the more common procedures we offer for children include:
- Dental Exams
- Professional Cleanings
- Silver Nitrate Treatment
- Preventative Resins
- Fillings
- Extractions
- Palatal Expansion Therapy
- Zirconia/Non Metallic Pediatric Crowns
- Tongue and Lip Tie Releases
What can your child expect during a typical Children's Dentistry appointment?
Your child's first appointment with us involves a comprehensive examination performed by one of our doctors and a professional dental cleaning. Both the exam and cleaning help us check for signs of cavities and other problems in their mouth. If additional treatment is needed, we can schedule an appointment for your child to come back in and have the work done. Our goal is to provide your family with a comfortable, professional dental office that you can trust. We love that our little patients look forward to their visits with us!
