Holistic Dental Associates

    Community & Values

Rooted in Spring, Committed to Greater Houston

Holistic Dental Associates isn't a corporate dental chain that happens to have a location in Spring. We're a locally owned practice, led by dentists who chose to build their lives and careers here.

    Meet Our Team

Our values aren't marketing statements crafted to appeal to demographics. They're the genuine beliefs that guide how we practice, how we treat patients, and how we show up as members of this community. They shape decisions about everything from materials we use to time we spend with each patient to how we define success.

This page shares who we are beyond the clinical—the values that drive us, the community we serve, and what it means to choose a dental practice that's truly part of where you live.

    The Search

You Want Healthcare That Feels Local

You've noticed a pattern with healthcare in growing communities like Spring.

As the area expands, corporate healthcare moves in. Practices get acquired. Local doctors become employees of distant corporations. Decision-making shifts from providers who know the community to executives who've never visited. The focus moves from patient relationships to metrics, efficiency, and shareholder returns.

The dentist you trusted retires, and suddenly you're seeing whoever's available at a practice owned by a private equity firm three states away. The receptionist who knew your name is replaced by a rotating cast of staff. The office that felt like part of the neighborhood becomes indistinguishable from any other location in a national chain.

    You don't want that.

You want to know who owns the practice where you receive care. You want providers who chose this community deliberately—not employees assigned here by corporate. You want decisions about your care made by people accountable to you, not to investors optimizing quarterly returns.

That's what Holistic Dental Associates is.

Dr. Teresa Scott and Dr. Rachel Perry aren't franchisees or employees. They're the owners—dentists who chose Spring, who've built their practices and their lives here, who plan to serve this community for decades to come.

When you become a patient at Holistic Dental Associates, you're not a customer of a corporation. You're a neighbor receiving care from neighbors.

    The Problem

Healthcare Is Losing Its Local Character

    Corporate Consolidation

Private equity has discovered healthcare. Dental practices across the country are being acquired, consolidated, and optimized. The numbers are staggering—private equity now owns thousands of dental practices nationwide, with acquisitions accelerating yearly.

    • Treatment decisions influenced by corporate production targets
    • Provider turnover as employed dentists move between locations
    • Standardized protocols that don't account for individual patient needs
    • Profit extraction that prioritizes investors over patient care

    Transient Providers

In corporate-owned practices, dentists often don't stay long. They're employees who may be transferred, who may leave for better opportunities, who may burn out under production pressure. The dentist you see this year may not be there next year. This transience erodes the continuity that makes healthcare work well.

    Disconnection from Community

Corporate practices exist to serve corporate goals. They locate in growing markets because growth means revenue, not because leadership cares about those communities. Executives making decisions about your local practice may never have visited Spring.

We believe this matters. Healthcare is personal. Dental care involves vulnerability, trust, and long-term relationships. These things flourish when providers are invested in their communities.

    What We Believe

    Our Values

Values are easy to list and hard to live. Here's what we actually believe and how those beliefs shape our practice.

    Integrity Over Convenience

We tell the truth, even when it's uncomfortable. We recommend what patients need, not what's most profitable. We acknowledge uncertainty rather than pretending false confidence.

    Relationships Over Transactions

We're not trying to maximize patient throughput. We're building relationships that serve patients well over years and decades—knowing you as a person, not just a chart.

    Quality Over Quantity

We'd rather do excellent work for fewer patients than mediocre work for many. Quality requires time—time to examine thoroughly, plan carefully, and execute precisely.

    Whole-Person Care

We see patients as complete human beings, not collections of dental problems. Oral health connects to overall health, and overall health connects to how people live their lives.

    Transparency in Everything

We explain what we find, what we recommend, and why. We discuss costs upfront. We share our reasoning openly and welcome questions.

    Continuous Improvement

Dentistry evolves. We're committed to learning continuously—not resting on credentials earned years ago, but growing throughout our careers.

    Respect for Autonomy

Patients own their bodies and their health decisions. Our job is to inform and recommend, not to decide for patients or pressure them toward our preferences.

    Community Investment

We're not here to extract value from Spring. We're here to contribute—to the health of this community, its vitality, and its character as a place worth living.

    Who We Are

    Dr. Teresa Scott

Dr. Scott' path to Spring wound through diverse places—across the country before settling in Greater Houston.

He and his wife Sharlyn are raising six children here. Spring isn't just where he practices; it's home—the place his family has chosen to put down roots.

When he's not caring for patients, Dr. Scott explores the landscape that drew his family here. She enjoys the trails, parks, and waterways of Greater Houston with family.

    Dr. Rachel Perry

Dr. Perry brings a calm, grounded presence to HDA that extends beyond clinical care. His approach to life mirrors his approach to dentistry: thoughtful, balanced, committed to doing things right rather than doing them fast.

He values lifelong learning—the curiosity that keeps him growing professionally and personally. He values balance—the recognition that good work requires renewal, that family and personal life matter alongside professional achievement.

Patients often comment on Dr. Perry's approachable demeanor and genuine interest in them as people. That interest isn't performed; it reflects his sincere belief that healthcare works best when providers see patients as complete human beings.

    Our Team

Beyond our doctors, Holistic Dental Associates employs a team of professionals who share our values and call Greater Houston home.

Our hygienists, assistants, and administrative staff aren't temps passing through. They're neighbors—people who live in Spring and surrounding communities, who chose to build careers here, who bring local knowledge and genuine community connection to every patient interaction.

We invest in our team through training, fair compensation, and a work environment that respects their wellbeing. We believe how we treat our team reflects how we'll treat our patients.

    Our Commitment

    What Community Means to Us

    Local Investment

Every dollar spent at Holistic Dental Associates stays closer to home than dollars spent at corporate chains. We employ local people, use local services, and pay local taxes. This isn't abstract economics—it's the difference between supporting your neighbors' livelihoods and enriching distant shareholders.

    Long-Term Thinking

We're not building a practice to flip to private equity in five years. We're building something we intend to sustain for decades—serving patients across generations, maintaining relationships that span years.

    Accessible Care

We believe quality dental care shouldn't be available only to the wealthy. We accept most dental insurance plans, offer payment options, provide honest assessment of priorities when budgets are limited, and never recommend unnecessary treatment.

    Health Education

An informed community is a healthier community. We take time to educate during appointments, explain the "why" behind recommendations, and share knowledge that helps people make better decisions about their health.

    Make a Choice That Matters

    Choosing Local

When you choose Holistic Dental Associates, you're making a choice that matters beyond your own dental care:

    • You're supporting local ownership in an era when corporate consolidation is eliminating local options.
    • You're investing in community by keeping healthcare dollars circulating locally.
    • You're choosing accountability to providers who live here and can't hide behind corporate anonymity.
    • You're building relationships with people committed to this community for the long term.
