Her Story
A Journey from Illness to Purpose
Dr. Teresa Scott is an honors graduate of St. Pius X High School and the University of St. Thomas, both in Houston. Graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biology in 1991, she earned her doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School in 1995, receiving both the Jurisprudence Award and the Award for Excellence in Clinical Dentistry.
Her journey into biological dentistry began in 2009 with her youngest daughter Promise's premature birth. Already suffering from the effects of mercury toxicity—though she hadn't yet discovered the root cause—Dr. Scott began questioning everything she had learned about conventional medicine and dentistry when her daughter thrived on a natural approach that conventional wisdom said would fail.
For the next three years, Dr. Scott studied nutrition, organic living, and alternative health approaches. Despite excellent conventional medical care, she continued to get sicker, eventually taking 12 different prescription pharmaceuticals with no improvement. In 2012, she finally discovered that mercury toxicity from dentistry was likely the cause, and made the transformative decision to switch entirely to biological dentistry.
A Cancer Survivor's Mission
On December 1, 2015, Dr. Scott received a devastating diagnosis: grade 4, stage 4B endometrial cancer with a 1% chance of survival. Rather than accept conventional treatment alone, she applied everything she had learned about alternative healing. Using IV vitamin C and nutrition, she achieved remission in 90 days. This experience cemented her commitment to medical freedom of choice and root-cause dentistry.
It is this set of unique circumstances that set Dr. Scott on her current path. She looks for root causes and works toward eliminating oral contributions to systemic health issues. Having come back from the brink of death, she is determined to help others avoid the same fate. She doesn't pretend to have all the answers, but she has worked incredibly hard to reclaim her life and is committed to helping her patients do the same.
Dr. Scott averages over 150 hours of continuing education annually—when state licensure only requires 15. In 2020, she completed both her Fellowship and Mastership in Biological Dentistry, earning the coveted AIAOMT, FIABDM, and MIABDM designations. She not only practices as an airway-centered biological dentist but also teaches airway and biological dentistry to other professionals.
